Welcome to the website of
Ian Yearsley MA MBCS
Essex author, poet & journalist

I am a writer and historian who was born in Ingatestone, Essex (UK) and now live and work in nearby Southend-on-Sea.

I am the author of eight books about Essex history and have written the first ever historical tour of Southend for iPhone.

I am also the author of an epic historical poem about the Battle of Assandun (1016) and have produced two poetry collections which feature Essex places.

September 2012 sees the publication of my first novel, a supernatural thriller entitled 'The Curse of Cannow's End'.

In January 2013 I will be teaching a module on 'The History of Southend' for the University of Essex.
